Eternal Security
To correctly understand the teaching of Scripture we need a power beyond the ability of ourselves, this is required that our minds, hearts, spirits also our souls will be able to grasp more of the ways of our Loving Heavenly Father, the Lord God Almighty. We need help outside ourselves, no Scripture is by 'private interpretation' as stated in the Divine Oracles
In quoting the name of our God may I, may we be so careful.Just think for a few moments about one of the names of our God as used in times of old.The is'YAHWEH', its meaning is not fully known, but is understood that Moses was the first person to whom it was revealed.Part of the teaching about God through this name was given to Moses at the 'Burning Bush' experience. With YAHWEH, part of the meaning of this word for our God is that He is the great 'I am', the one who always has been and always will be for ever and ever the same, Amen
Some of the Jews of old would not even say the word 'YAHWEH', such was their reverence for Him.Indeed matters got to such a pitch that the way to pronounce this word was forgotten. As a scribe had to write name 'YAHWEH' he would pick up a special stylus that was only used for writing this word.In the Old Testament Scriptures of old, as the word'YAHWEH' was translated to our word 'Lord', (but every time we read that word it does not have its roots in this word) translators had their problems. But then as the word 'Lord' was translated from 'YAHWEH it was written in upper caps so often, it would read 'LORD'.All this was because of the veneration the people of God had for Him.For us we need our spiritual eyes, 'anointed with eye slave' that we might understand more fully the things of our God in His holiness,we need a power beyond ourselves to grasp this
Just stop for a few moments and consider the following:
The Spirit breathes upon the word, to bring the truth to light,
precepts and promises afford a sanctifying light
We need the written Word of our God,
activated by His Spirit, continually drawing us to Himself
We need the help of the spirit of our God,
enabling us to look beyond the written word
beholding the Living Word, our Lord Jesus
As we have the Word of our God, the Bible in front of us, we need our minds opened by His Spirit that we might revere more so our God
We need our spiritual minds, hearts and emotions quickened by His Holy Spirit that we might adore, glorify our worthy Lord Jesus, 'O come let us adore Him', 'Let's give Him all the glory', 'For He alone is worthy'.We need our natural spirits quickened by the Holy Spirit that we might worship our Lord in Spirit and in truth. To quote the words of our blessed Lord as in Revelation c3 v18, we need our spiritual eyes, 'Anointed with eye salve that we might see', so with this we will worship our Lord, 'In spirit and in truth'. Spiritual 'cataracts' must be removed from our eyes
With our souls, ones eternal part that we humans have and not animals, have a desire for someone beyond ourselves.Understand that every one of human kind has an eternal destiny and there are only two ways we can go.We will either perish without God which will be eternal hell, or go to be forever and ever with our blessed Lord, in and through our dear Lord Jesus, by His Spirit and this is heaven
Having stated all that, what can we understand as Christians from the Scriptures and life how we should live now?In a discourse it is good to remember three things, firstly 'what', then 'what for' & 'what now'
The Christian way is not easy, we are taught so in the Divine Oracles and we understand from our own experiences. If anyone ever told me that being a Christian was a proverbial 'bed of roses', I might suggest they had a half-opened Bible, a half-closed mind and not even 'half' a real experience of actual life. Our Lord Jesus knew full well the experiences of life with poverty in daily living, personal grief, politics both ecclesiastical and otherwise and the powers of the state, nothing in these matters has changed and we all know it all too well
As Christians we have problems which are common to mankind, but our Lord the great 'YAHWEH' the 'I am', He is always with us through our circumstances. He is also our Father God, the Lord God Almighty, our Saviour, our Redeemer, our Lord & King, He is not, not our 'brother' but far more.Wherever is it recorded in Scripture that anyone called our Lord Jesus 'brother'?It just is not one there, full stop
For us to understand more of who our Lord God Almighty is, we can only turn to the Christian Scriptures
Our Lord Jesus is God, He is perfect, doing a complete work in everything He did.Just glance at some of the miracles our Lord did, men who could not walk, after an encounter with Jesus they walked, folks who were blind, after they met Jesus could see and thousands of men, together with the women and children who were hungry were fed. Then finally throughthe work on The Cross of our Jesus the Son of Man, our sins as we confess them, are separated, 'As far from the East to the West','Put behind the back of our Father God','Not remembered by Him any more', being, 'Washed away by the shed blood, the life giving of our Lord Jesus'.Our Lord desires to be personal to us all, it is stated, 'I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine'.As we believe we are honoured, we become sons & daughters of the living God, we are Christ-ones.Our God is so powerful, the One who created the heavens and the earth, who stretched them out, He who spread forth the earth and all which cometh from it.By that same power, the power by which He 'Commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God in the face of Jesus Christ', we are sons & daughters of the living God, new creatures in Christ Jesus'.Finally our God is UNIQUE, 'Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me'
We also have our eternal life secure in our God
In Isaiah c42 we have the inspired words written about our Lord Jesus as being 'My elect', the'One in whom My soul delighteth', then it says of our Lord Jesus, 'A bruised reed He will not break', and 'A smoking flax He will not quench'.These words must be very important because they were quoted by our Lord Jesus as stated in one of The Gospels. The 'reeds' of our lives will be 'bruised' but not 'broken', the 'flax' of ones life might only be just 'smoking' but will not be 'quenched'.We also have the words of our God as quoted in the next chapter in Isaiah, they are, 'As you go through the rivers, they shall not overflow you'This is followed with the words, 'When you walk throughthe fire, you will not be burned'.In passing through the 'rivers' of life we will get 'wet' but not drown, in walking through the 'fires' it will be 'hot' but we will not eternally be burnt to death. There will be difficulties in our lives but our dear Lord, the Lord God Almighty will be with us and see us through until He comes to take us to be with Him min glory
In support of this teaching please think of the building of Solomon's Temple, all the masonry work was done at some distance so that the sound of the men at work would not be heard at the temple site, where the Shekinah glory of our God would dwell. Now all the 'work' for our salvation was perfectly done by our Lord Jesus Christ on The Cross, the evidence for our redemptioncannot be found in ourselves and when we get to glory, to God's Heavenly Temple it will not be because of anything of ourselves and we will sing that great hymn of worship and thanks that, 'Salvation BELONGETH to our God and to The Lamb', please continue to read on
Dear friend, there is a reason for everything in life, the world is run on fixed principles, if not then our God is not God.In recording these words, as they are read by any Christian who at this very moment has serious difficulties, please understand that our dear Lord is with you at this very moment, yes and I write these words with understanding
Every one of us as we believe, is in the hands of our dear Lord Jesus and our Father God, in those hands which, 'flung stars into space', and those hands that were 'wrapped in swaddling clothes'.Yes those hands, which were actually nailed to that Cross on Calvary, and those some hands by which our names have been indeliblywritten in 'The Lamb's Book of Life' as we became Christians.Everything is in the perfect control of our dear Lord and He dose everything well.As we believe on our Father God, this through our Lord Jesus Christ, with the ABSOLUTE CEDRTAINITY that our eternal destiny is sealed in Him
