He is our Lord Jesus Christ, this title declares His DEITY, denotes His HUMANITY and teaches that He was ANOINTED by His Father God
First of all may we never quote the name of our blessed Lord without first understanding something of the One of whom we speak.May I, may we never break the one of the Ten Commandments in taking our Lord's name in vain, or praying In the name of Jesus' for answers to our selfish prayers, those for ourselves as individuals or a company of His people. As we do this we break one of the commandments, we Take the Lord's name in vain' and thereby need forgiveness
After writing those few words, I have had to stop for a few moments and think deeply about the motives for my own prayers. Are they all, For the sake of our Lord Jesus or for me?'
In trying to understand who Jesus is, we stand on sacred ground, in doing this we should, Take off our shoes, for it is holy n'.The One who we approach is the great YAHWEH as first revealed to Moses as the I am', not the one who was just present for Moses or the one who will be in the future. Our dear Lord is with you at this very moment as He is with me, such is our God.Our Lord Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of The Father. Before I go any further I would encourage you to dwell on the verse in the Bible often known as, 'The Gospel in a Nutshell', this is John's Gospel c3 v16.In that verse you could almost take every single word, meditate upon it and be enriched by the exercise, understanding more of who our Lord Jesus is
Our English word Lord' is Saxon, it signifies RULER or GOVERNOR.As we apply this to our Lord we recognise Him as SUPREME SOVEREIGN, that He is, KING of kings and LORD of lords'.The word Lord' teaches of the DEITY of the One who loves us, then we sho uld reciprocate. It is to our Lord to whom every knee will bow, this will be in worship or judgment, confessing Him as Lord, the one way or the other, to the glory of God the Father. There is a time coming which we pray for in the Disciples Prayer, Thy Kingdom come', this will be when the kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdom of our God,He will reign supreme. At Calvary our Lord Jesus was crowned with a crown of thorns, it was the worlds coronation' for Him, but through that experience of His, He desires to become our own individual King.King of my life, I crown Thee now, Thine may the glory be, lest I forget Thy throned pierced brow, lead me to Calvary'.Yes, as we believe our Lord is the King of our lives, we are subjects in His Kingdom, we are or should be subject to Him, if not are we in His Kingdom?
The next word in the title of our Lord we are considering is Jesus'.The Biblical ě meaning of the name Jesus is, Who saveth His people from their sins', to do this He had to become as man'.We have already established that our Lord Jesus wasGod's Son, He did not have any sin of Himself, therefore He could not be exactly the same as one of us, soHe was similar to us, but not identical. The record in Scripture teaches that our Jesus was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin.Now on the other side of this coin, we will one day, as we believe, be like Him but not identical, it is to Him that one day every knee will bow, this to the glory of God The Father, so our Lord is supreme.Just think for a few moments what Lucifer desired, he wanted to be exalted above God, note what happened. Then there was the tower of Babel, we are told in the Divine Oracles that these folk wanted to build a tower, Whose top may reach heaven', they wanted to be equal with God, note what happened. In the discoveries of archaeology in Mesopotamia are the ziggurat towers, buil jt for worship of pagan gods. Then we have the temptations, no the testings, no the provings which were the experience of Jesus in the wilderness, note what happened. Please examine these with great care, they all proved that Jesus was The Son of God.In resisting the temptations of selfishness, our Lord being the master in that situation, it was proved that He was Divine and Satan could not have the victory over Him, yet He became as man', the Son of Man, but also still the Son of God, the great God-Man
Jesus was born of a woman, but not the seed of man and yet in the line of mankind. His mother Mary knew very early in His life that He got thirsty and had to drink, this expressed the love Mary had for her son.As a baby, the eyes of Jesus took time in getting focused to the things of this world.Jesus got tired and had to rest even in His early days i Yes our Jesus was the Son of Man, it was only in being that, that He could save us from our sins. The price had to be paid for our salvation because our God is JUST, His laws must be kept and the penalty had to be paid. This 'penalty', this sacrifice which was acceptable to God had to be perfect and could only be His only begotten Son, a sacrifice without sin.Jes [us was and is our Kinsman-Redeemer.The Son of God became the Son of Man, that we sons and daughters of mankind might become sons and daughters of the living God through Jesus as The Son of Man
The last name in the title we are considering is the proper nounChrist' and 'proper' is our Lord Jesus in every sense. This word means The anointed One', Jesus was anointed by His Father God before the foundations of the world were laid. Then He was also prepared to come into time to be obedient to the will of His Father God even to the extent of The Cross, was fully equipped in His spirit, mind and body to go through the work of The Cross for His Father God, that we might be forgiven as we trust in Him.The work on The Cross was fully accepted as a perfect sacrifice by His Father God, this being signified in the resurrection on the third day
