JACOB, SAUL & JESUS

I think, from time to time of the experiences of Jacob, Saul and our Lord Jesus, so let us see what connection there could be between them. Jacob was not a very nice man, he was a supplanter, he displaced by unfair means his father's blessing that should have been given to his brother Esau. He worked with his mother, to deceive his father, to defraud his brother, but then later he was taught a lesson by his future father-in-law when he married bleary eyed Leah instead of the beautiful Rachel and our God then met up with him at the Ford Jabbock. At Jabbock we are told that he wrestled with a man' at night, the man touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh and so he limped for the rest of his life. Yes Jacob had this problem for the rest of his life, we are told in Hebrews c11 v21 that he worshipped leaning upon his staff, that was when he was one hundred and forty seven years old so I undersdand.

Net us now consider Saul of Tarsus for a moment, he was not a very nice fellow, we are told that he was breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of our Lord', but then our God met him. A very bright light shone on him on the road to Damascus and this blinded him for three days, after that he had his sight restored by Ananias and I think he had problems with his eyes for the rest of his life. In the Galatian Epistle we are told that the Galatians would have plucked out their own eyes if this had been possible and given them

Now let us consider our dear Lord Jesus, whom we should always include in ou

To sum up, we have Jacob, who as Israel carried to his dying day, evidence in his body which reminded him of HIS salvation every time he moved. Then we have Saul, who as Paul carried to his dying day the evidence of HIS salvation when he was confronted by our Lord on the road to Damascus when he met our dear Lord Jesus. Finally we have our dear Lord Jesus who has marks in His eternal being, marks not of HIS salvation but of OURS

We worship our Father God for who He is, the great eternal God, He was

May we, every one of us, endeavour to understand more of our God from His Word, through our fellowship together with Him and each other, by our prayers as individuals and as a company of His people. As we do this then our worship, as individuals and as an assembly of believers, will bring delight to the heart of our Father God and enrich our lives, there will be a fragrance coming up from our lives which will be noticed by those around us and this will be part of our testimony for our Lord Jesus
